The Eternal keeps you safe, so close to Him that His shadow is a cooling shade to you. Psalm 121:5

The shade of the cross is a place of constant reminder of the works and love of Jesus Christ to humankind.

The Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ is the ultimate symbol of the Father’s grace for humankind. It is His free gift that reconciles humankind to Him. It costs humankind nothing but only the believe in the heart that Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, came to the earth in human form and died a shameful death and rose again.

It is important that we understand the cross and be covered by the SHADE anytime one feels lost or remembers the Father’s love. The shade of the cross is made up of five elements:

The first is Salvation: Paul writes in Romans 3, “You see, all have sinned, and all our futile attempts to reach God in His glory fail….yet we are now saved and set right by His free gift of grace through the redemption available only in Jesus the Anointed….whom  God set as a sacrifice—the seat of mercy where sins are atoned through faith—His blood became the demonstration of God’s own restorative justice.

The second is Healing as He took on our sins in His body when He died on the cross so that we, being dead to sin, can live for righteousness. As the Scripture says, “Through His wounds, you were healed.(1Peter 2:24)

The third is Adoption: You see, you have not received a spirit that returns you to slavery….The Spirit you have received adopts you and welcomes you into God’s own family. That’s why we call out to Him, “Abba! Father!” as we would address a loving daddy. (Romans 8:15).

The fourth is Deliverance: John tells us, “the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8). Luke also added, “you all have authority to….. trample upon every demon before you and overcome every power Satan possesses. Absolutely nothing will be able to harm you as you walk in this authority (Luke 10:19)”

The fifth is Eternal life: For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23)

This is the SHADE the cross provides. It is therefore important that we stop our futile attempts at trying to get to the Father. It is time to reaffirm or accept His great love through His Son Jesus Christ. It is time to bask under the SHADE provided by the cross regardless of what confronts us for the cross is our great freedom and authority. Truly there is liberty in the shade of the cross. Amen
